For math we will primarily be using IXL. IXL sign in can be accessed through the Mecca Glen website or this link. IXL usernames and passwords have been emailed to each student. The program is designed for students to independently work on math skills. I will be assigning specific skills each day. Some students have used IXL in class this year and may have already completed the assigned skill. If this is so, I'd like these students to complete the assigned skill again. It should be easy to complete and it's a good review. These are the IXL Units we'll be focusing on:
Fractions & Mixed Numbers Fraction Equivalence & Ordering Decimals Add & Subtract Decimals Two-dimensional Figures Three-dimensional Figures Probability & Statistics Data & Graphs Symmetry & Transformations Any student who wishes to work on more math may choose from any of the other remaining units. I'm unsure of how many skills to assign each day. I'll be adjusting the number of skills as we go along. Mastery (completion) of each skill will not be required. It's most important that students practice math skills. In the past, some students have experienced a great deal of frustration when using this program. If a student is experiencing frustration I'm available for help. We'll start slowly with a review of work we've already done. If it's too much then it's time for a break, time to contact Mr. E, or time to leave it alone for the day. Comments are closed.
